Assad regime escalates attacks on Wadi Barada villages
Assad and Russian warplanes intensified Thursday bombardment on Bassimeh village in Wadi Barada in Damascus western countryside as Iran-backed militias tried to foray into the village from multiple directions.

According to activists, today’s bombardment was the fiercest on Bassimeh and Ein al-Fijeh. Assad and Russian warplanes targeted Bassimeh village and its valley with at least 30 airstrikes, while helicopters dropped around 20 barrel bombs on residential areas. Tens of tank shells also pounded the civilian-populated areas.

Following the fierce bombardment, Iran-backed militias tried to storm Bassimeh from the side of al-Jam’iyat and al-Ansar Swimming Pool. The area is witnessing attack and retreat battles, sources told Orient Net, and added that opposition fighters were able to kill a number of Assad and Hezbollah terrorists.

On Wednesday, Assad regime’s indiscriminate bombardment left six civilians killed and about 50 others injured. Assad regime also spread rumors of reaching a deal with opposition fighters and sending maintenance teams to fix water spring facility in Ein al-Fijeh town. Opposition, however, negated such a deal has been reached.
