Syrian woman sets herself on fire in Rukban camp
A Syrian woman set herself on fire in the Rukban camp for IDPs on Saturday (January 12) because of the dire conditions and the sharp shortages in foods and heating materials, Orient News learnt from local sources.

Sundes FattahAllah, 28, is married with three children burned herself because he had nothing to feed her children amid the lack or aid supplies in the camp.

The woman was taken to be hospitalized in Jordan, she had grave wounds and needed to foster her baby.

Tribal leaders in the Rukban camp rejected any notion of returning to the Assad regime's controlled areas, explaining that they did not want to go back to their towns and cities because of the forced displacement and demographic change practised by the Assad regime there.

The Rukban camp witnessed similar fatalities in the last months because of the wave of cold weather and floods which battered it.

Assad regime and its allied militias have displaced dozens of thousands of Syrians from Old Homs, eastern Ghouta, Aleppo and the south of Syria. These IDPs are scattered in the north of Syria and in the IDPs camps.
