Assad militia detains locals in Deir ez-Zoor
Assad militia men are detaining Syrian young men in the city of Deir ez-Zoor at the checkpoints scattered in the south part of the city, Orient learnt from local sources.

The young men were seen stopped at the checkpoints where their documents and papers were scrutinized and they were taken later in military vehicles into military positions to be driven to the Assad military conscription.

In the same context, locals who reconciled the Assad regime in Deir ez-Zoor, the National Defence members, were also taken to serve their Assad military service.

This is not the first time in which the Assad militia men launch campaigns for compulsory military conscription, Syrians in eastern Ghouta and Damascus' al-Qalamoun were also taken to military service.

Syrian men in Sweida, the Druze governorate, have exploited the Syrian revolution which weakened the Assad regime's powers to default joining the military service, conditioning not joining the Syrian revolution.

Before the Syrian revolution, men in Syria, had to join the military service if the reached the age of 18. They served for two years in the Assad army whose, officers are Alawite, the Assad sect.

Assad regime resorts to these campaigns to forcibly recruit Syrians in its army where hundred of thousands of Syrians were either killed or fled outside the country to avoid the military service.
