First US helicopter lands in N Syria’s new air base
A US helicopter landed on Tuesday at a new airbase built in the northeast of Syria, Orient Net learnt from special sources.

The first US helicopter landed on Tuesday in a new air base located in the village of Robarya in Hasaka northern countryside’s al-Malikeyya. The airbase used to be farmland. US military experts and advisers worked on preparing it to support the US-led coalition’s operations in Syria, Kurd Street website said.

Another airbase was being prepared by the US in the Kurdish-controlled northern Syria al-Hasaka, al-Shadadi air base.

A spokesman for U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) previously said, however, the US was not taking control of any airfields in Syria.

Syrian Kurdish officials said a few months ago the Rmeilan airstrip was being used by U.S. military helicopters for logistics and deliveries.

The United States sent dozens of special operations troops to northern Syria in 2015 to advise allies in the fight against ISIS. They have also dropped supply munitions to the allied Kurdish fighters, Syria Democratic Forces, (SDF) in the province.

The Syrian Kurds have established control over wide areas of northern Syria since Assad terrorists launched their war on Syrian people in 2011, and their YPG militia has become a major partner in the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS.
