Opposition fighters’ factions declared on Thursday launching Phase II of an offensive they started a couple of days earlier to break the siege of the eastern Qalamoun in Damascus eastern countryside after liberating it from ISIS and linking it the Syrian Desert.
Jaysh al-Islam, a main opposition fighting group which is dominantly present in Damascus eastern countryside, declared on its Twitter account the start of the Phase II of an offensive launched in eastern Qalamoun days earlier.
On Wednesday, opposition fighters controlled al-Mahsa Intersection and Abu al-Shamat Highway in the Syrian Desert, according to activists.
