Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Wednesday that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu would visit Turkey to discuss situation in Syria’s Idlib, as discussions continue to determine the fate of the city.
Speaking to TRT Haber channel, Cavusoglu said that the issue of Idlib is extremely important for Turkey. He noted that technical talks between Turkey, Russia and Iran are still ongoing and added that a political solution will be the next step after ceasefire is guaranteed.
"Turkey believes political solution is the best option" the foreign minister added.
Cavusoglu also said that Russia understands Turkey’s sensitivities regarding the Syrian offshoot of the PKK terrorist organization People’s Protection Units (YPG) than the United States.
