Qatar’s ambassador to Ankara: International community’s inaction allowed Assad to destroy Syria
Qatar’s ambassador to Ankara Salem Mubarak al-Shafi accused the international community of inaction in preventing Assad from destroying Syria.

“The international community has made no real effort to stop him of wreaking havoc in Syria," al-Shafi stated, adding that “there is enough forensic evidence to convict him and place him on trial on charges of committing genocide against humanity.”

“He should have left from the very first days of the revolution, and now, despite a political and diplomatic exit door being opened for him, he still refuses to leave and still continues in killing the Syrian people,” he told Anadolu Agency in an interview.

Al-Shafi asserted that the conflict in Syria will not end as long as Assad remains in his post, and that his staying will lead to more death, destruction and terrorism.

The Qatari ambassador added that “the bombing of the Russian troops is aimed at the moderate opposition groups and civilians, and not ISIS.”
