Egypt Air plane ’disappears’ between Paris and Cairo
Egyptian aviation officials have said that the Paris-Cairo bound EgyptAir flight MS804 that was reported missing earlier Thursday with 66 passengers and crew on board has crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.

They said the "possibility that the plane crashed has been confirmed," as the plane hasn’t landed in any of the nearby airports, TRT World reported.

Earlier today, the Egypt Air flight was reported "missing" between Paris and Cairo.

The airline released a statement on Thursday, saying flight MS804 had disappeared from the radar.

The plane was at 37,000 feet and around 80 miles from entering Egyptian airspace when it lost contact.

Egypt is tremendously suffering when it comes to air safety. After a Russian jet with tourists from Sharm El Sheikh blown out of the sky by a bomb, another possible terror alert is ongoing, Global Travel Industry news reported.

This time it involves Star Alliance member Egypt Air on a scheduled flight from Paris to Cairo may be another tragedy.

It happened 10 miles into crossing into Egyptian airspace during clear sky.

Search and rescue teams are active at this time to look for the missing airbus.

59 passengers were on board and 10 crew members. According to CNN three Air Marshalls were also on board.

An Egyptian civil aviation agency spokesman said the plane is believed to have crashed into the Mediterranean Sea, SBS reported.

AAP reported that the Airbus A320 departed Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris at 11.09pm local time.

EgyptAir tweeted that it had disappeared about 10 minutes before it was due to land in Cairo.

Its last known position was above the Mediterranean Sea.

According to AP, the officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.

The officials say the search is now underway for the debris.
