Sacrificing lives and the Syrian state

Sacrificing lives and the Syrian state
In a new episode of the ongoing violence in Syriaو seven explosions hit the two coastal cities of Tartous and Jablah leaving behind dozens of causalities.

The attacks stirred a lot of controversy among Syrians as they took place in regime-dominated areas that enjoy safety and stability compared with opposition-held areas that are subject to daily bombardment and siege.

Although ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks, some commentators held Assad regime responsible for them depending on previous accidents during which regime media were present before the attacks happened (before the appearance of Al-Nusra or ISIS); other commentators, however, said that Assad regime doesn’t have any interest in such attacks.

Assad regime doesn’t hesitate to commit such crimes, especially if their outcomes pour in its benefit. These attacks give credibility to the analysis that connect between the emergence of terrorist organizations and the regime’s own terror practiced on its own people.

Moreover, Assad regime has worked with its Iranian ally to turn a popular revolution into a sectarian conflict by which regime’s security and military apparatuses can hide behind a populace incubator managing thus to break the political anti-dictatorship framework of the uprising and turning it into a sectarian conflict in which the most criminal side will win.

This analysis doesn’t aim at exonerating ISIS from being responsible. It rather considers ISIS a participant in supporting Assad regime through its involvement in the arbitrary killing which is actually one of Assad’s means of survival.

Assad regime and its allies have practically assured these links through exonerating ISIS from being responsible and accusing Ahrar Al-Sham in an attempt that correlates with the Russian strategy aiming at destroying the military back bone of the Syrian opposition represented by the High Negotiating Council and to prop up other fake Russian-linked opposition.

Some local media outlets such as Safita News reported provocative news against internally displaced Syrians coming from different cities. Reports spoke about burning tents in the camps of “Al-Karnak” and “Al-Radar” and forcing their dwellers out. One report spoke about killing seven displaced people in one of the camps by one of Assad’s thugs after his brother was killed in one of the attacks.

These developments come one week following an image of General Issam Zahruldeen while posing before two slayed bodies. The image which went viral didn’t receive any blame or reprimand. The brutal and horrific image was followed by a video in which Assad Mufti Ahmad Hassoun appears while praising Zahruldeen along with Hezbollah and Assad.

The last explosions are only an additional scene in the scenario of changing Syria into a place where sacrificing people is being done daily to keep Assad and his brutal generals in power.
