No evidence of shooter at Los Angeles International Airport, police say
Police found no gunman and no evidence of shots fired late Sunday night at Los Angeles International Airport.

Los Angeles police spokesman Andy Neiman said the reports were spurred by loud noises only, and police are still investigating to find the source of them, The Dallas Morning News reported.

The reports caused people to pour on to sidewalks and out on to the tarmac at the airport.

The departures and arrivals levels of the central terminal area were closed Sunday night as police scoured the scene. Police took to Twitter to urge travelers to remain calm during the search.

A ground stop was issued at LAX for security reasons, according to the FAA. The airport urged passengers to check with their airlines for flight status.

Two weeks ago a similar scene unfolded at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York after reports of shots fired prompted an evacuation and ground stop. No shooter or any evidence of a shooting were found.
