With the US-Russian agreement entering into force by Saturday, al-Nusra Front has evacuated a number of key headquarters in Idlib city and its countryside, despite being excluded from the truce as announced by Russia and the US.
Al-Nusra front, during the past hours, evacuated several main headquarters in Idlib city and Maaret Masreen, Sarmada and Salqeen towns in Idlib countryside, Orient correspondent reported.
The evacuation came as a "preemptive step" to prevent the targeting of civilians by Russian and coalition jets under the pretext of fighting “al-Nusra Front” .
Observers believed that Russia and America deliberately excluded "al-Nusra Front" from the cease-fire, despite the fact that both countries knew the overlap between sites of al-Nusra and other opposition fighters in Idlib, Aleppo and southern Damascus, amid fears of targeting opposition-held areas by Russian jets under the pretext of targeting al-Nusra Front.
A deadline for a previous cease-fire came and went last Friday without a halt in hostilities. Kerry was engaged in a flurry of diplomatic activity over the weekend in order to broker the deal.
