Jordanian helicopters bombed on Wednesday areas controlled by ISIS-affiliated groups in al-Yarmouk Basin in Daraa western countryside, Orient News correspondent Basel Abo Yusuf said.
"Three Jordanian helicopters entered the Syrian airspace and flew at low attitude to attack areas controlled by Khaled Ben al-Waleed Army, a group accused of pledging allegiance to ISIS," Orient News correspondent said.
The Jordanian fighters attacked with heavy machine guns positions in the village of al-Qaseer near Tal Shehab in al-Yarmouk which is close to the Jordanian border. Al-Yarmouk Martyrs Brigades, ISIS-affiliated group, control the area.
Meanwhile, heavy clashes erupted on the outskirts of al-Alan Checkpoint and Bait Sahem between the Free Syrian Army’s the Southern Front and ISIS’ Khaled Ben al-Waleed Army on the other.
It is worthy to note that this is the first time in which Jordanian fighters openly enter the Syrian airspace.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for a car bomb suicide attack last week on the Jordanian border with Syria. The attack, which took place in a buffer zone opposite the Syrian refugee camp of al-Rukban, killed seven Jordanian troops and wounded 13.
