Deaths, injuries in al-Rakban camp after car bomb explosion
A big explosion rocked on Saturday al-Rakban refugee camp on the Syrian-Jordanian border, leaving a number of civilians killed or injured, Orient News correspondent reported.

The explosion was caused by a car bomb which was parked near a market in the camp, local sources told Orient News, pointing out that the explosion left dozens of injuries.

14 injured civilians were taken to the Jordanian side to be treated in the medical center there, according to a source in Jordan’s military. The source also said that the blast’s cause was detonating a small truck in the camp. The possibility of any Jordanian casualties is excluded as Jordanian medical and food assistance distribution teams are not frequently present at the camp, the source added.

In December, an explosive-laden motorbike exploded in al-Rakban camp, leading to a number of deaths and injuries.

The camp contains around 70,000 Syrian families. The families suffer dire humanitarian conditions as Jordan has sealed its borders in the face of Syrians after ISIS had targeted a border guard checkpoint with a car bomb in June, 2016 killing six Jordanian soldiers.
