After displacement of locals, Pope sends money to Aleppo’s "poor"
Pope Francis has sent 100,000 euros (106,090 US dollars) to the poor in the ravaged Syrian city of Aleppo, a Vatican spokeswoman said in a statement on Friday (March 10).

The Vatican administration, known as the Curia, contributed to the donation, which will be made through the papal charity office and the Franciscan order working in the Holy Land, Reuters reported.

However, three months since the forced displacement of the people of eastern Aleppo - which is considered to be the greatest number of Syrians forcibly displaced by Iranian militias and Russian forces and recently described as “war crimes’ by the UN - Pope Francis refrained from mentioning the massacres perpetrated by Iran and Russia against the people of Aleppo.

A UN probe on March 1 stated that the forced displacement conducted by Assad, Russia and Iran of thousands of civilians from east Aleppo amounts to “war crime.” The report said: “As warring parties agreed to the evacuation of eastern Aleppo for strategic reasons – and not for the security of civilians or imperative military necessity, which permit the displacement of thousands - the Aleppo evacuation agreement amounts to the war crime of forced displacement.”

In addition, the UN Commission of Inquiry accused Assad regime and its allied militias of committing war crimes in Syria, as its militants carried out revenge killings, noting that Assad helicopters dropped chlorine-containing bombs on eastern Aleppo more than once during 2016 and "deliberately" targeted a humanitarian relief convoy in Aleppo, which led to the killing of several civilians, wounding others and burning of the entire convoy.

Iranian militias completely occupied eastern Aleppo on Dec. 20, 2016 after Assad terrorists, Russian forces and Iranian militias bombarded the area for almost 2 months, killing thousands of civilians, completely reducing its buildings to rubble and forcibly displacing the remainder of its civilians towards the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib.
