After delays for “logistic reasons”, the al-Zabadani – Foua deal between opposition Tahrir al-Sham and Ahrar al-Sham Movement on the one side and Iran and Hezbollah militia on the other, starts to be implemented on Friday.

Residents of the pro-Assad towns of Kefraya and al-Foua in Idlib countryside left early on Friday boarding 75 buses and arrived to al-Rashideen neighborhood in Aleppo, Orient News correspondent Shaher Summaq said.

Buses, carrying residents from the towns of al-Zabadani, Madaya, and Bouqein towns in Damascus countryside also left heading to al-Rashideen in Aleppo, to reach their final destination in Idlib, northwest of Syria, he added.

According to the deal, the process will be carried out in batches. In the first batch, around 3500 people from al-Zabadani, Madaya and Bouqein towns will leave to Idlib, while 8000 people from the pro-Assad Kefraya and al-Foua towns will be taken to Aleppo.

The second batch will include 8200 people from Kefraya and al-Foua to leave to Aleppo in return for securing a way out to the fighters of Tahrir al-Sham from al-Yarmouk Camp and al-Hajar al-Asswad areas south of the capital, Damascus.

The deal also includes releasing as many as 1500 detainees from Assad prisons, mostly women, in addition to implementing a ceasefire and delivering aid in south Damascus.

Kafraya and al-Foua are located northwest of Idlib. Their population is predominantly Shia. Assad and Hezbollah terrorists have been using the two towns to launch attacks on other areas in Idlib countryside.

Al-Zabadani and Madaya are located to northwest of the capital Damascus close to the border with Lebanon. Both towns have been under Hezbollah terrorists’ siege and have been enduring dire living conditions.
