Explosion takes place in Idlib countryside’s Sarmada
A large explosion took place Sunday (August 12) in the Syrian city of Sarmada near the Turkish border in Idlib northern countryside, injuring many civilians.

Footage posted by Orient News’ correspondent showed the mass destruction caused in the scene of the explosion.

White Helmets volunteers worked on recovering people stuck in the rubble. They were also trying to open the ways blocked by the debris in the aftermath of the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but some reports said the explosion was caused by the misuse of bad storing of weapons in a cache.

Idlib is the largest part of Syria controlled by opposition groups with a population swollen by Syrians who were displaced by the Assad regime and its militias’ advances in other parts of the country.
