The least liveable city in the world “Damascus”
Damascus continued to languish at the bottom of The Economist’s 2018 Global Liveability Index released on Tuesday (August 14).

The index takes into account 30 factors related to stability, health care, culture, environment, education and infrastructure.

But at the other end of the scale, Damascus managed a score of just 30.7 percent.

The ten least liveable cities 2018 are large cities inundated with crime and those torn apart by war or natural disasters have proven to be the world’s most unliveable cities which are: 1. Damascus, Syria, 2. Dhaka, Bangladesh, 3. Lagos, Nigeria, 4. Karachi, Pakistan, 5. Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, 6. Harare, Zimbabwe, 7. Tripoli, Libya, 8. Douala, Cameroon, 9. Algiers, Algeria, and 10. Dakar, Senegal.

Vienna in Austria topped the list with a score of 99.1 percent, beating out Melbourne which had previously held the title as the World’s Most Liveable City for seven years. The top ten were largely cities viewed as safe, with a low terror threat and good access to health care and education.
