Syrian demonstrators call for release of detainees
Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on Friday (Oct. 5) in north of Syria, chanting anti-Russia and Assad militia slogans, and calling for the release of detainees at the Assad regime’s centres.

The demonstrators asked the international community to force Assad regime to release the detainees in its prisons, chanting “free the detainees.”

A mother of one of the detainees wrote on a paper she held “I know nothing about my son” and “I hope that he is still alive.”

A child raised a placard which read: “where is my father?” and a mother raised a placard which read “where is my son?”

Other demonstrators raised the names of their relatives and the year at which they were arrested.

Significant participation of women and children was noted in the demonstrations, according to Orient correspondents.
