Don’t forget your sister

Don’t forget your brother is a new painful story that took place in the city of Ariha in Idlib province.

On the afternoon of July. 24, 2019, an Assad warplane attacked the city. The bombing leveled a four-story building over the heads of its residents. In one of the floors, mother Isma’a Naqooh and her six daughters were sitting. When the building was bombed, the media activist Bashar al-Sheikh, SY 24 correspondent, was the first to reach the scene. While he was documenting the crime with his camera, he saw a man trying to rescue his two daughters. The first daughter was five-year-old Riham. The second daughter was three-year-old Rawan. The media activist decided to help. He thought he could rescue the two daughters. He put his camera aside, rushing to the collapsing building. At those moments, Rawan was about to fall from the building. But Riham held her tightly.

The father stood helplessly, crying! Riham’s weak body couldn’t bear the weight of her sister’s body.

Still clinging to her sister, they fell together. Piles of cement blocks and steel bars smashed their bodies. Riham died trying to help her little sister. While Rawan is fighting for life in the ICU.

The other sisters still don’t know what has happened, after recovered from under the rubble of the building. A family is shattered, the mother and sister are dead, the house is destroyed. By an Assad pilot’s indiscriminate targeting of civilians.
