An explosion caused by landmine ripped through Deir ez-Zoor countryside on Sunday (September 8), killing a civilian, local media reported.

A landmine exploded in Al-Marashidah town in Deir ez-Zoor countryside, killing Ahmad Hussein Muhammad al-Ali al-Dhaher, Deir ez-Zoor 24 reported.

On Friday, two landmines exploded in Abu Hardub town and al-Baghuz town in Deir ez-Zoor countryside, killing a boy and a man.

Demining former ISIS strongholds continues to be a major challenge in areas liberated from the group.

Hundreds of civilians have been killed and wounded in landmine explosions across Syria since the beginning of the year.
