Strike in eastern Syria targets Iranian regime-backed militiamen
An airstrike targeted Iranian regime’s-backed militias near the Iraqi-Syrian border on Monday night (September 16), according to local Syrian media.

Preliminary information indicates that the explosions targeted an arms depot taken as a headquarter by Hashd al-Shaabi, in addition to other headquarter containing military vehicles in the Green belt area in Al-Bukamal city in Deir ez-Zoor countryside, Deir ez-Zoor 24 reported.

One Iraqi news channel attributed the attack in Al-Bukamal  to Israel.

Last week, several militiamen were reportedly killed in an explosion at a weapons warehouse used by Iranian regime’s-affiliated militias in Iraq's Anbar province.

A series of recent strikes in Iraq have been attributed to Israel, some taking place near the Syrian border. The attacks were aimed at Shi’ite militias affiliated with Iran, aimed at foiling attempts to smuggle weapons into Syria, according to Haaretz.
