En route to Europe, Syrian refugees detained by Lebanese Army
The Lebanese army arrested of a number of Syrian refugees while trying to travel illegally by sea from the Lebanese coasts towards Europe.

The Lebanese army said on its official website, on Wednesday (18 September), that "a patrol of its navy stopped a boat while trying to leave the Lebanese territorial waters illegally with 41 people on board."

The army statement said that "among the arrested persons were 17 men, 14 women and 10 children, who are of Syrian and Lebanese nationals. They were stopped 15 nautical miles from the beach between Anfa and Qalamoun."

The arrested refugees were referred to the competent judiciary, the statement said.
